Anna Pavlova is Professor of Finance at London Business School (LBS). Her research examines the role of institutional investors in asset pricing, ESG investing, retail options trading, the financialisation of commodities, and international financial markets. She has published in leading academic journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies and Review of Economic Studies, and her work has been featured in international outlets such as The Economist, the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal.
Anna is Editor of the Review of Financial Studies and Programme Director of the Asset Pricing Programme at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). She serves on the Scientific Council of the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) and is a member of the London Business School Governing Body. Her research and teaching have been recognised with numerous awards, including an ERC Starting Grant and the 2025 LBS Excellence in Teaching Award. She has also been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of St Gallen in recognition of her contributions to finance.
Prior to joining LBS, Anna was on the faculty at the MIT Sloan School of Management. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and has previously served as a Director of both the American Finance Association and the European Finance Association.
